Do you ever feel overwhelmed at school?
I know I did last week. It was chaotic and fast paced.
I had a paper due Tuesday, a scheduled test for Wednesday and two other tests on Thursday.
As I was laying in bed on Sunday night, I knew that the upcoming week was going to be very stressful. I haven’t had a hard week of college up to that point. It was easy to cope with because I knew for a couple weeks that this week would finally arrive.
The week started off great as Monday classes got postponed until noon. This turned out to be helpful because it pushed my accounting test on Wednesday back a week. As Monday night came around I finished up my paper and got it all ready to turn in on Tuesday. One day down.
On Tuesdays I only have two classes and I knew they would be review for the tests on Thursday so It turned out to be an easy day for me. The only thing that sucked about Tuesday was the fact that I had to work at night.
Wednesday however was a very long day. I have four classes on Wednesday with the last one ending at 5:45 p.m. Normally, when I get done with class I feel relieved and ready to relax. This Wednesday I did not have time for that, as soon as I got out of class I began studying for my two tests. For one of my speech classes the study guide was 22 pages long if that gives you an idea of how long it took. I proceeded to study until 1:30 a.m.
As i was studying I had trouble concentrating. I later found out that Colorado Christian University conducted a study that revealed stress interferes with the ability to concentrate. This made me feel better knowing that I was not alone.
Test day. I woke up early so I could eat breakfast and get the brain juices flowing. As I took my first test I felt confident that I knew a majority of the answers. One down, one to go. The second test was the one I was worried about the most. It turned out to be a rather easy test! I’m not sure if it was an easy test because the way the teacher wrote it or easy because I studied for a long time. Either way I’ll take a 92 percent on a test.
