It came to my attention last night that this semester has flown by.
I was sitting around the dinner table with my two roommates when I realized that we only had three weeks left before finals, which start on May 5 according to SIUe. At first my friends didn’t believe me so I had to show them on a calendar that I was not hallucinating.
As soon as I brought up this topic it immediately led to a conversation with the roommates. We started talking about first semester and sure enough none of us could remember that much. It seems as if August and September never happened.
As the conversation got more in depth we started talking about previous classes. For the life of me I could not remember all five classes I was in last semester, I had to eventually get on CougarNet and check my transcripts to identify all five classes.
It just goes to show that before you know it a major part of your life will be over in the blink of an eye. In four weeks I will be done with my sophomore year of college which is mind blowing to me. The even scarier thing is that my brother, Tyler will be graduating after this semester. It seems like yesterday that my parents got back from dropping him off at college.
Half way done with college is truly astonishing. In two years I’m expected to have a life long career started. That’s a lot of pressure. I’m ready for the challenge though, the thought of making a salary and being able to invest my money excites me.
Reflecting back on why I wrote this article I realize that I need to cherish the time I have in college and make the most of it. Whether that be staying up late for no reasons with roommates, skipping class to golf, studying until 4 a.m. or going on spontaneous road trips.
Don’t let life pass you by because time flies.
